We have discussed the paint color in our house before, and how it really just isn’t our jam. I am beginning to think we look crazy. In every photo we take it never looks “purplish” or “pinky” like we claim. But we promise, it really does, or it did.
So for demonstration purposes, lets just pretend the living room looked like this:
See…Now we don’t look nuts. Right? Maybe not. Ok anyway…
For the color, we decided that we liked gray in the living room and just wanted a different shade. After testing out two different colors, both lighter, we decided to go with Behr Silver Drop. It was more of a true gray with absolutely no pink or purple in it.
The living room is by far the largest room in our house. It is about 450 sqft and it essentially is the house. It’s a big room to paint, and we were being Procrastinators with a capital “P” about it. Also aiding in my procrastination was the height. The ceiling at its highest point is 17 ft, and I was not looking forward to getting up on the extension ladder over our slippery slate floors.
Eventually, it was time to get down to business. I put my big girl pants on, and I got up on the ladder and faced my fear of dying while DIY-ing.
I know what you are thinking… “That doesn’t look too bad, and she is even smiling about it!” Oh, I was all smiles while I painted this wall. The big wall however…
While I was up there, no smiles were found on this face. I only moved enough to get the job done and get my butt back down on solid ground.
A short four hours later, Amazing Gray was gone and “Silver Drop” took its place.
What a difference! Ok, so I know the wall color doesn’t look like a dramatic change, but to us the change is huge. In our minds, the before and after will always look like this:
Also, you may have noticed that a few more items have found a home in our living room too, but we will get to that later.
What minor changes have you made that made a world of difference to you?
